Atlas of Laos
Spatial structures of the economic and social development of the Lao People's Democratic Republic
by Bounthavy Sisouphanthong & Christian Taillard

This atlas of Laos is the first of its kind to appear in English. Based on statistics gathered in the late 1990s, the atlas will give a snapshot of Laos's evolution in the 20 years since the founding of the Lao People's Democratic Republic. But the greatest contribution made by its authors has been to eschew a statistical description of the economic and social development of the country and instead visualize these changes in a series of 299 full-color maps. The result is clear and attractive, something for Laotians to treasure where ever they are. The atlas will be, moreover, of great utility not only to those development specialists working with Laos but also as a teaching resource.
